Identifying the Signs and Symptoms of Pet Cancer

Having a pet in your family is like having another loved one with you at all times. Cats and dogs do so much to make our lives enjoyable. They love us unconditionally. They get so excited when we come home from work. Keeping them healthy is important. So, what type of signs should you look for when it comes to cancer in your pet?

Chronic Weight Loss

If your pet is experiencing chronic weight loss that was not prescribed by the vet, then there could be an underlying issue such as cancer. Many pet cancer patients experience unexplained weight loss, but know that this is not a diagnosis of cancer until determined by the vet.

Tired or Lame

Pets who have become tired or lame all the time could be suffering from a form of cancer, especially if the pet was typically active, especially during the day. This could also be a sign of aging, but is typically a sign of bone cancer.

Diarrhea or Vomiting

Pets will get sick from time to time, which can cause them to vomit or have diarrhea. This is not uncommon. But, when pets experience these issues at a chronic rate, you need to have them checked by the vet for something more serious like cancer.

Changing Lump

It’s not uncommon for dogs or cats to develop lumps during their lifetime. Many of these lumps will be fatty deposits or benign lumps. Some can grow over time. If your pet has a lump that is increasing in size, it’s best to take him or her to the vet to determine if the lump is cancerous.

If you spot any of these cancer signs in your pet be sure to take them to the vet as soon as possible. Cat medicine can help keep your pet living a normal life despite suffering from cancer or other diseases.
